  • Stanhope Municipal Airport reopened to traffic

    Please note the Stanhope Municipal Airport has been re-opened to traffic following the completion of line-painting on the Airport's runway. The line-painting crew is set to return to complete the Airport's front parking lot this evening, between approximately 8 and 10 p.m.

  • Stanhope Municipal Airport closed Thursday, August 7

    Please note the Stanhope Municipal Airport will be closed for runway painting between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 7. This may limit access to the Airport's front parking lot, which would also limit access to the public water refill station located there. 

  • Total Fire Ban in Haliburton County: Effective noon on Tuesday, August 5

    Effective at noon on Tuesday, Aug 5, 2025, there will be a total fire ban throughout the County of Haliburton, including the townships of Algonquin Highlands, Minden Hills, Highlands East and Dysart et al. This means no outdoor burning any time of day or night. 

  • Household Hazardous Waste event at Oxtongue Lake: August 16

    Please note that Household Hazardous Waste collection will be available at the Oxtongue Lake waste disposal site on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. This is a newly added collection event!

  • NOTICE: Council Tour of Municipal Infrastructure

    TAKE NOTICE members of Council will be participating in a tour, for educational purposes, of municipal infrastructure located in the Township of Algonquin Highlands on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, commencing at 9:00 AM. 

  • Civic long weekend hours at AH facilities

    Please note the Algonquin Highlands Administrative Office at 1123 North Shore Road will be closed on Monday, August 4 for the civic holiday, re-opening to the public at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5. 

  • Play basketball at the Dorset Recreation Centre

    You can play drop-in basketball at the Dorset Recreation Centre on Thursday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. until August 28. These drop-in games are open to all ability levels.  You can preregister here.  

  • Update: Dorset Tower construction project - July 29

    Please note construction fencing has now been installed around the Dorset Tower and work has begun on the installation of a lightning strike protection system on the structure. This means that as of today (Tuesday, July 29) visitors are no longer able to to climb the Tower. This construction project is scheduled to conclude Friday, August 8.

  • Dorset Community Yard Sale: Saturday, August 2

    The annual Dorset Community Yard Sale takes place this Saturday, August 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dorset Lions Centennial Park! There'll be no shortage of unique treasures to peruse.
