Algonquin Highlands
Short Term Rentals
The Township of Algonquin Highlands' Short-Term Rental By-Law officially came into effect on Oct. 1, 2024, and the registration and licensing system for residents who operate short term rentals of their properties can be accessed below.
Shoreline Road Allowances
Please note that short term rental premises must be located on the licensee's own property. Many waterfront properties within the Township of Algonquin Highlands contain 66-foot-wide public shoreline road allowances. While some of these road allowances are entirely underwater, some are partially submerged, and some are located entirely on dry land.
In an instance where the subject dwelling is located on a public shoreline road allowance, the licensee will be required to purchase the road allowance from the Township in order to comply with the terms of the licence.
You can learn more about municipal shoreline road allowances here.
If you have questions, please call the office and speak with staff using the contact information on this page.
