Please note the Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower will be closed for maintenance operations on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 1 from approximately 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The park at the Tower property will remain open during this time period, and a 50% discount will be issued for entrance fees during this time. 

Join in the autumn fun at the Stanhope Municipal Airport on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the annual Fall Colours Fly-In! There will be an array of classic and unique cars, aircraft, food vendors, artists and artisans, an aviation author, face-painting and more! And of course, for a fee, you can take in the splendour of the Haliburton Highlands fall foliage from above with an airplane or helicopter ride! 

The next installment of the Oxtongue Lake Speakers Series will take place Wednesday, Aug. 26 at the Oxtongue Lake Community Centre from 7 to 8 p.m. and feature Jordan McDonald, a project specialist with Ontario's Invading Species Awareness Program. 

Haliburton County, ON, Aug. 12, 2026 – Community members are invited to learn about options for a potential restructuring of the governance framework for the County of Haliburton and its four lower-tier municipalities and provide feedback during a series of town hall meetings from Aug. 25 to 31.

Please note reservations for fall colours viewing at the Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower are only required between September 19 and October 25.

Instructor Lloyd Stonehouse returns to Tapscott-Lopes Park in Dorset on Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a soapstone carving workshop! This is an opportunity to create your own, one-of-kind, soapstone masterpiece. 

Please note that the Algonquin Highlands Administrative Office at 1123 North Shore Road will be CLOSED for the Civic Holiday on Monday, Aug. 3. The office will re-open to the public at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4. The Dorset Recreation Centre will also be closed on Monday, while the AH Trails Office will remain open. 

The next installment of the Oxtongue Lake Speakers Series will take place on the evening of Wednesday, July 29 at 7 p.m. at the Oxtongue Lake Community Centre.
