Notice of Nomination for Office - 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections
The nomination period for the 2026 municipal election starts May 1, 2026 and runs until August 21, 2026.
Nominations for Municipal Officers and School Board Trustees must be made on the prescribed form (Form 1) and must include signatures of at least 25 persons, that are eligible electors within the Township of Algonquin Highlands, endorsing the nomination on the prescribed form (Form 2). School Board Trustees are excluded from the 25 signature requirement.
Nomination forms are available at the Township of Algonquin Highlands Clerk’s Office or on the municipality’s website. All Nomination forms must be filed, either in person or by your agent, by appointment, with the Clerk/Returning Officer during normal office hours between May 1, 2026, to Thursday, August 20, 2026, and between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026 (Nomination Day).

Please note the terminal building at the Stanhope Municipal Airport will be closed Monday, April 27 through Thursday, April 30. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Easter weekend hours at Algonquin Highlands facilities
Please note the Algonquin Highlands Administrative Office will be closed on Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6 in observance of the Easter weekend.

Frost Centre Ski Trails closed for season
Please note the ski trails at the Frost Centre are now closed for the season, but what a season it was! Thanks to everyone who came out to enjoy some classic cross-country skiing this winter!

Fire season begins April 1 - No daytime burning
A reminder the fire season begins on Wednesday, April 1, meaning that as a safety precaution, outdoor burning is prohibited between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Burning during the fire season is permitted between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., unless a fire ban is in place.

Caution: Water across a segment of McPhail Road
Warning signage and markers indicating the road edge are in place. Water levels are being monitored, and updates will be provided if there are any changes.
- There is no impact on travel on the road.
- Please use caution when crossing the flooded section.
- Maple Lake Waste Disposal Site operations are not effective

AH outdoor rinks closed for the season
Sorry, skaters, but that's officially a wrap for the season. Stanhope Gardens and the Dorset Ice Palace are now closed for this winter.
