Closures and impacts from Significant Weather Event - December 29
In response to a major freezing rain event in the area, The County of Haliburton, the Township of Minden Hills, the Township of Algonquin Highlands, the Municipality of Highlands East, and the Municipality of Dysart et al declared a Significant Weather Event at 12:00 p.m. local time on December 28. This weather event will impact travel and services throughout the County. This declaration is made pursuant to Ontario Regulation 239/02, Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways.

Terminal building at Stanhope Municipal Airport closed Jan. 5 to 9
Please note the terminal building at the Stanhope Municipal Airport will be closed Monday, January 5 through Friday, January 9. You can learn more about the Stanhope Municipal Airport here.

2025 holiday hours at Algonquin Highlands facilities
Please note the Algonquin Highlands Administrative Office at 1123 North Shore Road will close for the holidays at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 24, re-opening to the public at 8 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2. The AH Trails Office at 20130 Highway 35 North will also close at noon on Christmas Eve Day, re-opening for regular operating hours on Friday, Jan. 2. Trails will remain open on a weather-dependent basis.

Holiday hours for AH waste disposal sites
With the holidays approaching, please be aware that all Algonquin Highlands waste disposal sites will be CLOSED on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. The operating hours for AH waste disposal sites during the holiday period are as follows:

SERVICE RESTORED: Public water refill station at Stanhope Municipal Airport
Please note the public water refill station at the Stanhope Municipal Airport has been repaired and is once again operational. Thank you for your patience.

CANCELLED: Dorset Tree Lighting - Nov. 30
Please note that due to the inclement weather, the Dorset tree-lighting celebration that was scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 30 has been CANCELLED.

SERVICE DISRUPTION: Front entrance of AH Administrative Office - November 12 & 13
Please be advised that the front entrance doors of the Algonquin Highlands Administrative Office (1123 North Shore Road) will be closed for maintenance on Wednesday, November 12 and Thursday, November 13.
