Dorset library branch extends hours to include Thursdays
HALIBURTON COUNTY (January 8th, 2026): The Dorset branch of the Haliburton County Public Library (HCPL), located inside the Dorset Recreation Centre, is extending open hours in January by introducing a Thursday evening opening from 3 to 7 p.m.

Significant Weather Event Declaration Lifted - December 30
Please note the Declaration of a Significant Weather Event that was issued by the Township of Algonquin Highlands, the County of Haliburton and its other member municipalities on December 28, 2025, will officially be lifted as of noon on Wednesday, December 30, 2025.

Closures and impacts from Significant Weather Event - December 29
In response to a major freezing rain event in the area, The County of Haliburton, the Township of Minden Hills, the Township of Algonquin Highlands, the Municipality of Highlands East, and the Municipality of Dysart et al declared a Significant Weather Event at 12:00 p.m. local time on December 28. This weather event will impact travel and services throughout the County. This declaration is made pursuant to Ontario Regulation 239/02, Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways.
