  • NOTICE: Public Meeting - Proposed Change of Building Fees

    TAKE NOTICE pursuant to Section 7(1) of the Ontario Building Code Act, 1992 empowers Council to pass certain by-laws respecting construction, demolition, change of use, permits, fees and inspections. Pursuant to Section 7(6) of the Ontario Building Code Act, 1992, The Council of the Corporation of the Township of Algonquin Highlands will be holding a Public Meeting on November 7, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers at 1123 North Shore Road, Algonquin Highlands, Ontario, to consider fee changes to the Building Fees.

  • AH Short Term Rental Registration System available Friday, Nov. 1
    Please note the registration and licensing system for the Township of Algonquin Highlands' Short Term Rental By-Law will go live this Friday, Nov. 1.
  • Fireworks and HHW surveys close in one week

    There is one week remaining for residents to take the Algonquin Highlands Fireworks Survey and Household Hazardous Waste Survey, which both close on Thursday, October 31. 

  • Grand opening of Dorset library branch on Friday, Oct. 25

    There will be a grand opening celebration for the new Dorset branch of the Haliburton County Public Library this Friday, Oct. 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 1 p.m.

  • Seeking Feedback: Household Hazardous Waste Survey

    The Township of Algonquin Highlands is re-evaluating the way it collects Household Hazardous Waste, and is looking for feedback from residents on their practices and preferences. Whether or not you've ever attended an HHW collection event in AH, we invite you to provide feedback by taking a survey here. Your participation is greatly appreciated! 

     

  • NOTICE: Special Meeting of Council - Oct. 10

    TAKE NOTICE that there will be a Special Meeting of Council on October 10, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers located at 1123 North Shore Road, Algonquin Highlands.  

  • October 3, 2024 Council Meeting Highlights
    • The Township had issued a request for proposals for a swing set and accessible pathway to be installed outside the Oxtongue Lake Community Centre, however, the sole bid received was approximately $10,000 over budget. Council willl cancel the current RFP and proceed by way of informal request for quotation, reaching out directly to playground companies for quotations for providing and installing the swing set, in an attempt to bring the project to within approved budget.

  • Short-Term Rental By-Law registration system to be phased in

    While the County of Haliburton's Short-Term Rental By-Law is officially in effect within the Township of Algonquin Highlands as of Tuesday, October 1, 2024, the registration and licensing system for the by-law is not yet operational, and will be phased in across the County's four lower-tier municipalities at dates yet to be announced. 

     

  • AH now offers lifetime licence for dogs

    An updated Dog Control By-Law for Algonquin Highlands was passed by Council earlier this month. A major change when it comes to dog tags is the introduction of a $20 lifetime licence fee in place of the old licensing system.
