With the retirement of longtime Township of Algonquin Highlands Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Angie Bird, the municipality will welcome her successor on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

This is the final week candidates can register for the October 26, 2026 municipal election! Nomination Day is this Friday, August 21 and after the 2 p.m. deadline, no new candidates may register. 

Today is the final day to use Elections Ontario's online portal to ensure you're on the Voters List for the October 26 municipal election, and that your information is correct!

Haliburton County, ON, Aug. 12, 2026 – Community members are invited to learn about options for a potential restructuring of the governance framework for the County of Haliburton and its four lower-tier municipalities and provide feedback during a series of town hall meetings from Aug. 25 to 31.
