Victoria Day hours at Algonquin Highlands facilities
Please note the Township of Algonquin Highlands Administrative Office and Dorset Recreation Centre will both be CLOSED on Monday, May 18 in observance of Victoria Day. The office and the DRC will re-open for their regular operating hours on the morning of Tuesday, May 19.

The next municipal election will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026. Elections Ontario is now responsible for maintaining the Permanent Register of Elections for Ontario municipal elections. Summer hours at AH waste disposal sites begin Friday, May 1
Please note that all Township of Algonquin Highlands waste disposal sites will transition to summer hours beginning this Friday, May 1. Please remember to bring your pink Landfill User ID Card with you.

The nomination period for the October 26, 2026 municipal election begins this Friday, May 1, marking the first day candidates can file their paperwork with the Township of Algonquin Highlands.

HIRING: Trail Technician/By-Law Officer
The Township of Algonquin Highlands is seeking applications from qualified persons for the existing position of Trail Technician/By-Law Officer. Reporting to the Trails Coordinator, the Trail Technician/By-Law Officer assists the Trails Division with the operation and maintenance of the Haliburton Highlands Water Trails (Frost Centre and Poker Lakes canoe route areas), hiking trails and the Frost Centre ski trails.
Qualified candidates are invited to submit a cover letter and resume by 3:00 PM on Friday, May 8, 2026.

Notice of Nomination for Office - 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections
The nomination period for the 2026 municipal election starts May 1, 2026 and runs until August 21, 2026.
Nominations for Municipal Officers and School Board Trustees must be made on the prescribed form (Form 1) and must include signatures of at least 25 persons, that are eligible electors within the Township of Algonquin Highlands, endorsing the nomination on the prescribed form (Form 2). School Board Trustees are excluded from the 25 signature requirement.
Nomination forms are available at the Township of Algonquin Highlands Clerk’s Office or on the municipality’s website. All Nomination forms must be filed, either in person or by your agent, by appointment, with the Clerk/Returning Officer during normal office hours between May 1, 2026, to Thursday, August 20, 2026, and between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026 (Nomination Day).
