The nomination period for the 2026 municipal election starts May 1, 2026 and runs until August 21, 2026.

Nominations for Municipal Officers and School Board Trustees must be made on the prescribed form (Form 1) and must include signatures of at least 25 persons, that are eligible electors within the Township of Algonquin Highlands, endorsing the nomination on the prescribed form (Form 2). School Board Trustees are excluded from the 25 signature requirement. 

Nomination forms are available at the Township of Algonquin Highlands Clerk’s Office or on the municipality’s website.  All Nomination forms must be filed, either in person or by your agent, by appointment, with the Clerk/Returning Officer during normal office hours between May 1, 2026, to Thursday, August 20, 2026, and between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026 (Nomination Day).

Reporting to the Clerk/Deputy CAO, the Deputy Clerk provides overall administrate support to the
Clerk’s Department. In the absence of the Clerk, this position performs the statutory duties of the
Clerk as in defined in the Municipal Act and other related legislation. Confidentiality is essential in this
role.

TAKE NOTICE that pursuant to Section 48 of the Municipal Act 2001, S.O., 2001, c.25, as amended, the Council of the Township of Algonquin Highlands at its Regular Meeting to be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026 will consider a by-law to provide for the naming and renaming of all public and private roads for the purpose of accommodating the addition of private road names within the Township of Algonquin Highlands as follows:

Please note the Algonquin Highlands Administrative Office will be closed on Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6 in observance of the Easter weekend. 

The Township of Algonquin Highlands is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from individuals and food service professionals to operate a food truck or trailer at the Stanhope Municipal Airport for the summer of 2026.
