    The Stanhope Municipal Airport has new Instagram and Facebook accounts! Owned and operated by the Township of Algonquin Highlands, the Airport is the only facility of its kind in the County of Haliburton.

    The Stanhope Municipal Airport Advisory Committee is seeking volunteers to assist with a spring fly-in on Saturday, May 24, 2025 to help ensure the event is a soaring success!

  • 2025 Budget: Special Meeting Agendas

    A reminder that Algonquin Highlands Council will hold 2025 budget deliberations this week, during special meetings on Thursday, Feb. 27 and Friday, Feb. 28. The meetings commence at 9 a.m., respectively. 

  • Algonquin Highlands rinks closed due to mild weather

    Please note that due to the mild weather, which is forecast to continue for the next few days, both the Dorset Ice Palace and Stanhope Gardens are closed for the time being. This will help to save the condition of the rinks and make it easier for Staff to re-open them once temperatures drop again.

    The Township is embarking on the creation of a branding strategy. Part of this process is establishing an official brand identity for Algonquin Highlands, and we want to hear from you!
  • Recreational programming cancellations due to provincial election

    Please note that some recreational programming will be cancelled this week and next due to the use of Algonquin Highlands facilities as advance polling and polling places for the provincial election. 

  • HIRING: Senior Trail Technician/By-Law Officer

    The Township of Algonquin Highlands is seeking applications from qualified persons for the position of Senior Trail Technician/By-Law Officer. Reporting to the Trails Coordinator, the Senior Trail Technician/By-Law Officer acts as crew leader during backcountry maintenance operations and weekend supervisor, providing on-site leadership and direction to seasonal staff during assigned tasks and projects.

  • Family Day hours at Algonquin Highlands waste disposal sites

    Waste disposal sites in Algonquin Highlands will be operating special hours on Family Day, Monday, February 17th.
    Pine Spring and Oxtongue Lake will be CLOSED.
    Maple Lake and Dorset will be open late, from 12 noon until 3 p.m.
