Heading into the long weekend, a friendly reminder that the updated Algonquin Highlands Fireworks By-Law prohibits the lighting of fireworks on Victoria Day weekend, including the Monday holiday.

Visit AHFS fire halls on First Responders Day - Thursday, May 1
The County of Haliburton has organized a series of open houses for First Responders Day this Thursday, May 1 and the Township of Algonquin Highlands is inviting the public to attend any of the three Algonquin Highlands Fire Services halls between 3 and 7 p.m.

Easter weekend hours at AH facilities
Please note the Algonquin Highlands Administrative Office at 1123 North Shore Road will be closed Friday, April 18 through Monday, April 21. The office will re-open to the public at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22. The AH Trails Office will also be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Significant Weather Event Update - Thursday, April 3
Please note that as of today - Thursday, April 3 - all Algonquin Highlands waste disposals sites have returned to their regular operating hours. You can find site hours and other information here.

End of Declaration of Significant Weather Event - April 3
The significant weather event declared by the Township of Algonquin Highlands on March 28, 2025, has been lifted as of April 3, 2025 at 2 p.m.

Telephone and internet services restored at Township facilities
Please note that as of the morning of Wednesday, April 2, telephone and internet services have been restored at the Algonquin Highlands Administrative Office and Dorset Recreation Centre. This means Staff are once again able to take calls and receive emails from residents.

Fire Season in effect in Algonquin Highlands
Please note the fire season is in effect in Algonquin Highlands from April 1 through October 31 each year. This means that as a safety precaution, daytime burning is prohibited. Outdoor burning during the fire season is permitted between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.
