Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (s. 40) 

Notice is hereby given in accordance with Section 40 of the Municipal Elections Act, there will be a Municipal Election in the Township of Algonquin Highlands for the offices of:

 Acclamation – Ward 1 Councillor Please be advised that there will not be an election for Ward 1 Councillor. Karla MacKay  has been acclaimed to serve as Ward 1 Councillor for the 2026-2030 term of Council.  Ward 1 (Sherborne) electors will only receive a ballot for the office of the Mayor and English Public School Board Trustee, if you are an English Public School supporter.  

 Acclamation – School Board Trustee – French Public Please be advised that there will not be an election for French Public School Board Trustee, Conseiller(ère), Conseil Scolaire Viamonde as Erik Lapointe  has been acclaimed to serve as the French Public Trustee for the 2026-2030 Term. 

 The 2026 Municipal/School Board Election will be conducted using Internet and Telephone Voting and will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026.   The voting period for internet and telephone begins on October 16, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. through to October 26, 2026 at 8:00 p.m.   

 Voter Information Letters will be mailed out to eligible voters during the week of October 1, 2026.   If you do not receive a Voter Information Letter by October 16, 2026, please contact the Municipal Office. Additions and revisions to the Voters List can take place up to 8:00 pm on Election Day, allowing those individuals who are eligible to vote to obtain a Voter Information Letter. 

 Revision and Help Centres will be located at the Municipal Administration Office, 1123 North Shore Road, Algonquin Highlands, Ontario and the Dorset Recreation Centre, 1051 Main Street Dorset. Please contact the Municipal Office at 705-489-2379 or visit the Township of Algonquin Highlands website at www.algonquinhighlands.ca for dates and hours of the Revision and Help Centres and other election information.
