Algonquin Highlands Votes: Key Dates for the 2026 Municipal Election

While summer is in full swing, the October 26,2026 municipal election will be here before you know it.

Below, Algonquin Highlands residents can find some key dates pertaining to the election, along with a number of resources for voters and candidates.

Key Dates

Wednesday, August 12 - Last day to update voter information online

Residents are advised to ensure their information on the Voters List is updated and correct before August 12.

And remember - seasonal residents of AH can vote in the October election!

Elections Ontario is responsible for the maintenance of the Voters List. You can check or update your information here.

Friday, August 21 - Nomination Day - Candidate nominations close

Candidates for the municipal election must register with the Clerk by 2 p.m. on Friday, August 21. Please note that nominations must be filed in person at the Algonquin Highlands Administrative Office at 1123 North Shore Road by appointment only during regular business hours.

You can find an unofficial list of candidates for the election here. This list is updated by Township staff as nominations are received.

Friday, October 16 - Advance voting begins

Algonquin Highlands residents will be able to vote in the election beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, October 16 through until 8 p.m. on Monday, October 26 - Election Day - via telephone or internet.

Monday, October 26 - Election Day

Qualified electors may cast their votes up until 8 p.m., when polls will close. Unofficial results will be posted on the Algonquin Highlands website after 8 p.m., and the Clerk will declare the official election results as soon as possible following Election Day.
