The 34^th annual Dorset Snowball Winter Carnival takes place Feb. 13 and 14. 

The Township of Algonquin Highlands is now hiring for a variety of seasonal positions for the upcoming spring and summer months. Many of these positions are ideal for students and young people and include opportunities to work outdoors. 

The next regular meeting of Algonquin Highlands Council takes place this Thursday, January 15 commencing at 9 a.m. You can view the agenda, which includes a link to the livestream, here.

HALIBURTON COUNTY (January 8th, 2026): The Dorset branch of the Haliburton County Public Library (HCPL), located inside the Dorset Recreation Centre, is extending open hours in January by introducing a Thursday evening opening from 3 to 7 p.m. 

Please note the Declaration of a Significant Weather Event that was issued by the Township of Algonquin Highlands, the County of Haliburton and its other member municipalities on December 28, 2025, will officially be lifted as of noon on Wednesday, December 30, 2025. 

Please note the Algonquin Highlands Administrative Office at 1123 North Shore Road will close for the holidays at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 24, re-opening to the public at 8 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2. The AH Trails Office at 20130 Highway 35 North will also close at noon on Christmas Eve Day, re-opening for regular operating hours on Friday, Jan. 2. Trails will remain open on a weather-dependent basis. 

Please note that Stanhope Gardens - the outdoor rink located behind the Stanhope Firefighters' Community Hall at 1095 North Shore Road - is open for the season as of Monday, December 15!
