Fire season begins April 1 - No daytime burning

A reminder the fire season begins on Wednesday, April 1, meaning that as a safety precaution, outdoor burning is prohibited between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Burning during the fire season is permitted between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., unless a fire ban is in place. Daytime burning is prohibited until November 1. 

Daytime burn permits are no longer issued in the Township of Algonquin Highlands. The operators of commercial operations who must conduct daytime burning are asked to contact Fire Chief Michael French at 705-489-2379, Ext. 343 or mfrench@algonquinhighlands.ca 

Violating the Township's Open Air Burning By-Law can result in fines.
