2026 Municipal Election: Nomination period begins Friday, May 1

The nomination period for the October 26, 2026 municipal election begins this Friday, May 1, marking the first day candidates can file their paperwork with the Township of Algonquin Highlands.

Prospective candidates can find everything they need to know about running for office, including eligibility criteria and the required forms, here. 

A candidate information session will take place next Tuesday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Haliburton Legion at 719 Mountain Street. It's recommended that anyone considering running for Council attend this free information session.

The nomination period will close at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 21 - Nomination Day.
