Overview

The Township of Algonquin Highlands provides a wide variety of services to its residents and ratepayers. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions on how we can improve our services, please contact us!

Water Testing: NOTICE OF CHANGE IN SERVICE

The Township of Algonquin Highlands no longer accepts water samples for testing.  For information on alternate bottle pick-up and drop-off locations, please contact the Health Unit in Haliburton at 705-457-1391. 

Cemetery Services

In the geographic township of Stanhope, the care and administration of cemeteries is the responsibility of the Township of Algonquin Highlands. There are four cemeteries in Stanhope, at the Maple Lake United Church, Zion United Church, St. Stephen’s Anglican Church and St. Peter’s Anglican Church.

The Township of Algonquin Highlands Cemeteries Bylaw sets out the rules and regulations, in accordance with the Cemeteries Act. It also sets out procedures and fees, and provides other useful information. The Cemeteries Bylaw is available for printing or viewing online, or from the Township Office.

The Municipal Clerk is responsible for maintaining burial records as well as the sale of burial plots. If you would like to purchase a burial plot or require further information, please call and make an appointment with the Municipal Clerk.

WiFi Locations & Public Computer Access

WiFi

There are 3 free WiFi locations in Algonquin Highlands. The signals may be found in the vicinity of the Stanhope Library on North Shore Rd., the Dorset Recreation Centre in Dorset, and the Oxtongue Lake Community Centre on Hwy 60. No password is required at any of these locations, just search available networks and away you go. These signals are available 24/7.

Public Computer Access

Haliburton County is home to network of community-based computers called the Community Access Program (CAP). The CAP sites in Algonquin Highlands may be found at the Stanhope Library and in the Dorset Recreation Centre.

Thumbdrives are permitted. Fees apply per page for printing.

The Stanhope CAP site is available during library hours.

The Dorset CAP site is available during Recreation Centre hours.
