Update on Outdoor Rinks
Stanhope Gardens and the Dorset Ice Palace are currently closed. The recent warm weather has not been favorable to begin ice making. We do require multiple days of below freezing temperatures to build the ice prior to opening. For up-to-date conditions on rinks throughout the season please check the Township website.
Our goal every year is to have rinks open for the Christmas holidays, however, the current long-range forecast suggests that favorable ice-making conditions will not occur until after Christmas Day. Once temperatures are favorable staff will be working to apply multiple floods on the Stanhope Gardens and to prepare the base on the Dorset Ice Palace. The Gardens are typically able to open sooner than the Ice Palace. This is because the Dorset Ice Palace has a natural base which takes longer to freeze than the concrete base at the Stanhope Gardens. However, this typically means that ice in Dorset lasts longer into the spring than at the Stanhope Gardens.
