Fire Ban Remains in Effect in Algonquin Highlands

A reminder a total fire ban as instituted June 1 remains in effect in the Township of Algonquin Highlands and throughout the County of Haliburton.
This means no outdoor burning any time of day, as well as no Tiki torches, chimineas, outdoor candles or lanterns, fire tables, or any other device that creates an open flame. The only exceptions are CSA-approved propane and gas barbecues with a lid and shut-off valve.
Under the ban, fireworks are also prohibited and if the ban continues into the weekend, it will mean that the lighting of fireworks is prohibited on Canada Day. While this may not be very festive, we kindly ask that residents do their part to keep the community safe.
The County of Haliburton also remains under a Restricted Fire Zone as mandated by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
