Dorset Snowball returns Family Day Weekend

One of the Township of Algonquin Highlands’ biggest events of the year returns Family Day Weekend with the Dorset Snowball Winter Carnival.

This year’s Snowball will commence at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16 with a skating party at the Dorset Ice Palace, located in Lions Centennial Park on Main Street. If conditions do not allow for the outdoor rink to be open, there will be a dance party in the parking lot. The event will run until 9 p.m.

On Saturday, Feb. 17 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., a host of activities will include homemade toboggan races, human foosball, a hockey shootout, photo booth, face-painting, silent auction, snow maze and more. Enjoy a virtual dog sled tour or some maple taffy. Explore the vendor booths. Take in shows by the Great Canadian
Lumberjacks, Junk Yard Symphony, and a wildlife caller. The Snowball Parade is scheduled for 11 a.m.

The day will wrap up with Hockey Night in Dorset, commencing at 6 p.m.
