Community Tree Lighting Celebrations

With the festive season getting underway, residents are invited to attend three community tree lighting celebrations being hosted by the Township of Algonquin Highlands throughout early December. These events will take place in Oxtongue Lake, Stanhope and Dorset, respectively, and include a bonfire, Christmas carols, refreshments and a visit from Santa Claus! The event in Stanhope will begin with a children's party where kids can decorate cookies, make ornaments and have their picture taken with Santa himself.

The Oxtongue Lake tree lighting will take place Friday, December 1 at the Oxtongue Lake Community Centre at 3971 Highway 60 beginning at 6 p.m.

The Stanhope event will follow on Saturday, December 2 and will kick off with the children's party the Stanhope Firefighters' Community Hall at 1095 North Shore Road beginning at 5 p.m. Those planning to attend the children's party are asked to register ahead of time by emailing recreation@algonquinhighlands.ca so Santa knows who to expect. The tree lighting celebration will commence at 6 p.m. outside the Stanhope Heritage Museum at 1123 North Shore Road.

The Dorset tree lighting will take place Friday, December 8 at Dorset Lions Centennial Park on Main Street beginning at 6 p.m
