The Stanhope branch of the Haliburton County Public Library is once again open to visitors!

While contractors await the arrival of parts required to complete the renovation at the branch, library patrons are once again be able to browse the collection, attend programs and utilize library services in Stanhope. Once materials arrive, the library will close briefly for the outstanding work to be finished. Upon project completion and final inspection of the chair lift, HCPL will host a grand re-opening celebration.

The Stanhope branch was closed to undergo renovations to make the entrance more accessible and to meet the standards outlined in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. The initial goal was to complete this renovation during the COVID-19 lockdown closures. However, supply chain issues delayed the project timeline. Using grant money provided by the Enabling Accessibility Fund, branch improvements include a new chair lift, a new entrance with an automatic door and hardware, and an exterior concrete ramp.
