Subject: COVID 19 Update - Update on Marina Operations, Council Meetings and the Public Water Tap at the Dorset Tower.
The Township of Algonquin Highlands remains under a declared State of Emergency.
The Algonquin Highlands Emergency Control Group continues to meet to conduct its assessment of the COVID-19 pandemic situation and its potential effects on Algonquin Highlands.
The following updates include information on marina operations, Council meetings and the public water tap located at the Dorset Tower.
NEW INFORMATION
1. The Province of Ontario has advised marinas may begin preparations for the recreational boating season by servicing boats and other watercraft and placing boats in the water, but not open to the public. Boats and watercraft must be secured to a dock in the marina until public access is allowed.
Please contact your local marina for more information.
2. Council meetings will resume on May 21, 2020 and be held once a month until further notice. Meetings will be held electronically. For dates of upcoming Council Meetings please visit the Township’s Calendar
You can be notified of upcoming Special Meetings of Council by Subscribing to News and Notices or Council Agendas.
3. Due to the continued closure of the Dorset Tower, the public water tap at this location will not be accessible. No annual passes to the Tower will be issued at this time. Additional public water taps within the Township of Algonquin Highlands can be found at:
- Stanhope Airport (1168 Stanhope Airport Rd.)
- Township Office (1123 North Shore Rd.)
All users are reminded that these are public facilities where extraordinary hygiene protocols are required.
REMINDERS:
1. Fire Ban: An MNRF Restricted Fire Zone (RFZ) remains in place across the entire fire region of Ontario, including Algonquin Highlands. This means no open air fires including burning of grass, debris, campfires or fireworks. Charges and /or fines are being enforced at $485.00 per fire truck, per hour.
