Hiking Trail Conditions:

JANUARY 15,2018 ;  SPECIAL NOTE OF CAUTION: DUE TO TO THE RECENT RAIN EVENT AND FLASH FREEZE THERE ARE SOME VERY ICY SECTIONS ON ALL TRAILS AROUND CREEKS, AND OTHER AREAS THAT SHED WATER SUCH AS NEAR STEEP ROCK FACES. PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION IF YOU ENCOUNTER ANY OF THESE AREAS AND USE YOUR BEST JUDGEMENT IN NAVIGATING OR AVOIDING THEM.

BEECH RIVER TRAIL has re-opened to pedestrian traffic. No motorized vehicles are permitted.

A RE-ROUTE THROUGH THE QUARRY SECTION OF CIRCUIT OF 5 VIEWPOINTS HAS BEEN FLAGGED OUT AND POSTS AND SIGNAGE WILL SOON BE INSTALLED, IN ORDER TO AVOID ACTIVE QUARRY ACTIVITY. PLEASE STAY CLEAR OF ACTIVE QUARRY MINING AREAS.

All other hiking trails are currently OPEN.

Do note that the bridge that crosses Oxbow Creek at the halfway point on the Beetle Lake trail has been removed and is pending replacement - hikers will not be able to cross the creek and must follow the re-routed loop trails that return to the initial trailhead.

Watch for logging operations on the Crests of Kennisis Trail - follow signage.

The Acclimatization Trail on the Frost Centre Hiking Trails is closed to the south of the western junction with the Fire Tower Trail. This means that the Fire Tower Trail can no longer be done as a loop and hikers using the Acclimatization Trail must finish the 4km loop by following the Fire Tower Trail. Please obey posted signage and respect private property.


Forest Access Road Conditions:

Forest Access Roads are all CLOSED.

Forest Access Roads are CLOSED. Call the Algonquin Highlands Trails Office at 705-766-9033 for the most up to date condition report.

Forest Access roads are the responsibility of MNRF (705-286-1521).  Roads are to be used at own risk and are not inspected daily.  Tow truck operators will often refuse to enter such roads to provide assistance. It is the trippers responsibility to check on road conditions when planning their trip.
