Access Road and Trails Conditions

Forest Access Roads:

Forest Access roads are the responsibility of MNRF (705-286-1521).  Roads are to be used at own risk and are not inspected daily. Tow truck operators will often refuse to enter such roads to provide assistance. It is the tripper’s responsibility to check on road conditions when planning their trip, we recommend a 4wd vehicle for all forest access roads.

Sherborne Lake Forest Access Road: This is an unmaintained forest access road that becomes a groomed snowmobile trail during the winter months. - Outside of winter, we recommend 4wd vehicles with high ground clearance.

Cinder Lake Forest Access Road: No winter maintenance. Outside of winter, 4WD vehicles with high ground clearance are recommended. Expect at least one water crossing and large exposed rock faces.

Margaret Lake Road: No winter maintenance.

Dan Lake Forest Access Road: No winter maintenance. Outside of winter, 4WD vehicles with high ground clearance are recommended.

Hiking/Snowshoe Trail Conditions:

Beetle Lake Trail - West Side Trail Closure in Winter monthels. The west side portion of the beetle lake trail, which accesses from Algonquin Outfitters Road is closed to winter access. Only the east side trail is open during the winter months. This is because the west side trail crosses private property where it becomes a ski trail in the winter. Hikers must stay off of that portion of trail to avoid damage to the groomed ski trail. Please respect private property and posted signage.

Aside from the above notes, all other hiking/snowshoe trails are open and accessed by donation at the trailhead.
