Registration – Third Party Advertisers

Campaign Period
Begins May 2, 2022 or whenever a candidate files a nomination paper (whichever is later).

MPAC to Deliver Preliminary List of Electors
Last day for MPAC to deliver the preliminary list for each local municipality, unless another date earlier than September 1 has been agreed upon.
The Clerk will review and prepare Voters’ List.

Nominations may only be filed between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM
Withdrawal of Candidate Nomination
Candidates wishing to withdraw nomination must do so, in writing, no later than 2:00 PM

Additional Nominations (If Necessary)
If necessary, additional nominations may be filed between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM, if the number of nominations filed for an office and certified is less than the number of persons to be elected to the office.
A candidate who wishes to withdraw their additional nomination must notify the clerk in writing before 2:00 PM.

Voters List
Last day for the Clerk to reproduce the voters’ list and determining the revision procedures and Deliver or mail copy of Voters’ List to those identified in MEA, s. 23.

Voter Identification Letters Mailed
Voters will receive their Voter Identification Letters during the week of October 3 to 7. If you do not receive your letter by October 12, please contact the municipal office at 705-489-2379.
September 1 to October 24, 2022 (close of voting)
Amend Voters’ List – Revision Period
Applications, including acceptable identification as in accordance with the MEA, to make additions, corrections or deletions of own information to the Voters’ List.
A person may submit an application requesting that a deceased person’s name be removed from the voters’ list.
Revision Centre (Municipal Office - 1123 North Shore Road, Algonquin Highlands)
The Revision and Help Centre will be open for eligible electors, during regular office hours 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (weekends and statutory holidays excluded), from September 1, 2022 to October 21, 2022 and on Monday October 24, 2022 from 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM. The Revision and Help Centre will also be open on Saturday, October 15 and Saturday, October 22 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Voting Assistance Location Open
A voting assistance location will be available for eligible voters to attend to cast their vote electronically if they are not able to do so from their location. A computer will be set up for electors to utilize to cast their vote via internet.
The Voting Assistance location will be at the Township Office at 1123 North Shore Road, Algonquin Highlands, ON and open for eligible electors, during regular office hours 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (weekends and statutory holidays excluded), from October 14, 2022 to October 21, 2022 and on Monday October 24 from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Last day for Third Party Advertisers to file their notice of registration.

Voting Day!
Final day that qualified electors may cast their vote up to 8:00 PM.
Unofficial election results will be released after 8:00 PM.

The Clerk will declare the official election results as soon as possible after Election Day.

The inaugural Council Meeting for 2022-2026 Term of Council is to be held at 11:00 AM on November 15, 2022.

Candidate and Third Party Financial Reporting must be filed no later than 2:00 PM.

Late Candidate and Third Party Financial Reporting
Last day for candidates and registered third parties who missed the deadline to file their financial statements reports (by 2 PM with a $500 late filing fee).

Reporting of Financial Statements
The Clerk shall publish the report of which candidates and registered third parties filed a financial statement and to be made available to the public on a website or in another electronic format as soon as possible after this date.
