2022 Municipal and School Board Elections

Nominations for the positions listed below must be made on the prescribed form (Form 1) and must include signatures of at least 25 persons (eligible electors within your municipality) endorsing the nomination on the prescribed form (Form 2) (School Board Trustees are excluded from the 25 signature requirement). Nomination forms are available at your local municipal Clerk’s Office or on the municipality’s website.  All Nomination forms must be filed, either in person or by your agent, with the Clerk/Returning Officer of the appropriate municipality during normal office hours between May 2, 2022 to Thursday, August 18, 2022, and between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2022 (Nomination Day). Please call the office to schedule an appointment to file your nomination.

The required filing fee for the Head of Council is $200.00 and all other offices are $100.00, cash, debit, certified cheque or money order made payable to the appropriate municipality, and must accompany the signed forms.  Full details on the procedures to be followed may be obtained from the Municipal Clerk.

Make Sure You are on the Voters’ List!

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) is responsible for collecting the information of residents in Ontario (name, date of birth, citizenship and school support) in order to create a Preliminary List of Electors for municipal and school board elections. Municipalities will use the Preliminary List of Electors to prepare their Voters Lists for the 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections.

One of the ways MPAC collects this information is through voterlookup.ca.  Here, eligible voters can add their name and the names of other eligible voters in their household to a secure database and confirm or update their information.  The voter information page provides information about voter eligibility.

This helps ensure that each municipality has the most accurate information possible for the 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections.
